How to check a gift card’s region before buying
A digital wallet code can be restricted by platform, country, account region or currency. Checking these details before payment helps avoid an unusable gift or unnecessary support request.
Steam Wallet
Steam states that users may encounter an error when redeeming a wallet code issued in a currency different from the account’s currency. Check the currency shown in the recipient’s Steam account and the code listing.
PlayStation Store
PlayStation states that a voucher needs to match the account region. The voucher value and subscription content are applied to the account that redeems it.
Xbox and Microsoft
Compatibility depends on the specific code and account. Review the listing and Microsoft account details before redemption, and confirm the item on the redemption screen.
Do not rely on workarounds
A VPN does not change the underlying account or currency rules and may introduce further problems. Buy the region intended for the account instead.
Buying for someone else
Ask for the platform, country or region, and wallet currency without requesting their password. Keep the code private until the recipient is ready to redeem it.
